Hello?

Tap Tap. Hello? Is there anybody out there? Is this thing on?

Sorry blogreaders, all 3 of you! I haven't done a very good job of documenting my kids' lives. It's just that everything they do is so cute that I couldn't possibly write it all down. Anyway...I'll try to do a better job and what better way to jump back in than with a post about my little girl's first day of kindergarten. Where has the time gone?

Seems like just yesterday we were bringing home our first baby, sweet Madeline Rose.

It took both of us about 30 minutes to change her clothes the first time! We were so scared we were going to break her!

We've come a long way, baby! You are so smart and will do so well in school! You have quite the vocabulary, thanks to Fancy Nancy, and are curious about EVERYTHING!

We're about to close out our, I mean your, first week of kindergarten, and you already seem like an old pro. I've already gotten a nice note from your teacher saying what a joy you are to have in class, and you've already gotten to be "line leader," a most prestigious honor for a kindergartener!

I just wish you would slow this whole growing up thing down a little bit! I mean, sending your baby off to kindergarten is one thing (and yes, I did cry when she turned to go to her wee little table) but did I also mention the first loose tooth that occurred this week? Slow it down a little, ok?

We love you!

Flashback Friday

I Sleep for Ice Cream

Maddy was about 2 1/2 when we took this video. Now, if she were only that serious about her broccoli! Be sure to turn your sound up, especially for the last video.

A little bit more...

Have a great weekend!

RIP Henry the Fish

So long, buddy. We barely knew ya.

The story: So, we go to the lake for a long holiday weekend. Damon and Maddy left Friday afternoon to get set up for camping, and Fletcher and I met them and Damon's parents on Saturday. As I was getting ready to go Saturday morning I realized that I had made arrangements for Zoe, our mini dachshund, but not Henry. I called Damon and he said to just feed him before we go, and he would be fine. We return home Monday afternoon. The first thing I do is go to the kitchen to feed Henry, but Henry isn't there. I half expected Henry to be a floater by the time we got back, but he just plain wasn't there. Fletcher's booster seat tray was sitting on the counter next to the fish bowl. I picked it up, and this is what I found:

Henry had jumped ship, walked the plank, gone to the big fishbowl in the sky. The way I jumped you would have thought a rattlesnake had been lurking under that tray. Poor, poor Henry. Henry had been a present for Maddy's 5th birthday in March. She handled it pretty well. She went to Meme's house (my mom) yesterday for a sleepover. My mom called me yesterday afternoon and said that Maddy wanted to talk to me. Here is how it went:

Maddy: Mommy, we're going to the pet store, and can I get a new fish?

Me: Hmmm....don't you think we should talk to Daddy first?

Maddy: I miss Henwy sooo much. I need a new fish.

Me: Well, okay. (yes, I am a pushover)

Since Meme was the one who took her to the pet store, I think SHE should have custody of our new fish friend. What do yall think?

Writer's Block Already?

My second day on the job, and I already don't know what to say! I guess I just need to get comfortable with this blog thingy. I do have some cute pictures to share though. Since I intended to start a blog a while back, I'll do a little catch up and share some of my favorite shots from recent events.

Popsicle Time! Who doesn't love a popsicle on a hot afternoon? The popsicles the kids are holding seemed like a novel idea when I picked them up while Krogering the other day. They are "bite-sized" and "slow melting." Well, that would be fine if they didn't eat them in two bites and then subsequently eat five more a piece! I think we'll do homemade popsicles after this box is finished. That appliqued shirt that Fletcher is wearing is a result of my recent foray into sewing. Just be glad it isn't a close-up! Let's just say I need a little practice!

Here is Maddy singing "The Riders" at her end of the year program for her preschool. Several of the little girls sang the song while a few of the boys rode around them on big wheels. It was so cute!

How about a Mother's Day shot? That's one lucky mama there.

And one from one of our snow days a while back of Maddy and Damon...

I hope everyone has a good long weekend! Til' next time....

Welcome!

I've been wanting to do this for a while now, start a blog that is. Maddy and Fletcher are growing like weeds. There isn't a day that goes by that they don't do something adorable or funny that should be documented. I hope all of our near and far away family members will enjoy getting a regular glimpse of what it's like in our crazy world.

Here is Maddy (aka Squirt, Sweetpea, Sissy):

This is one of my favorite photos that I've taken with my fancy new camera that I got for my birthday. Isn't she a beauty? It's easy to take great photos when you have subjects like this! Maddy is the sweetest 5-year-old with a healthy dose of sass. Today is Maddy's last day of pre-k, so she will officially be a kindergartener at 3:00. She is ready for summer and has been asking every morning when the swimming pool will open.

Here is Fletcher (aka Bub, little brother, little man, dude):

Fletcher isn't taking his job as a 2-year-old lightly. In fact, I would give him an "exceeds expectations" on his annual review in that role. He is a very active little boy and sweet as can be. It's a lot of fun noting the differences in how Maddy was at this age and how Fletcher is. When Maddy was 2, she loved to play with her babies and would push them around in her babydoll stroller as long as she was awake. When asked where she was going with her babies she would reply, "Hobby Wobby." Fletcher is just all boy. He loves throwing anything that isn't nailed down, running, jumping and making engine noises when playing with his trucks.

More about these rugrats later.....my lunchbreak is over!
